Gettysburg Day 2

We got into Gettysburg on Friday around 2:30. We then went to the brand new Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor's Center (seriously brand new, it opened a week ago) about a mile south of Cemetery Hill. It was a beautiful visitors center with lots of displays and information on the Civil War. Here are just a few of the pictures we took.

After the visitors center we headed back north toward Gettysburg and Cemetery hill. For any of you Gettysburg enthusiasts this was the north part of the "fish hook" position of the union army.

The northeast portion of Cemetery Hill is now the Gettysburg National Cemetery. It was a very beautiful cemetery with lots of monuments.

It also has a very large section dedicated to WWII soldiers.

The monument in the back of this picture is dedicated to the Gettysburg soldiers. The monument is surounded by rings that have names of those who died.

One of the most amazing parts of Gettysburg were the numberless monuments that dot the battlefield. each one represents a group that fought here.

There is a road that runs along the lines of the confederate and federal armies. The first day we drove the Union side. On the south is Big and Little Round Top. This was the flank and lowest part of the Union lines.

Emma was getting "car crazy" and loved getting out and looking at the area. This is Devil's Den in the background.

This is a monument of General Warren who saw the confederate army moving toward Little Round Top and quickly moved his men into position and held the hill.

This monument is toward the center of the battlefield on the Union side. It was HUGE and had a staircase that had access to the top.

Amish County. Day 2

Since we were in Pennsylvania, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to see the Amish County. Did you know that their is an Ephrata in Pennsylvania? They say it different but spell it the same.

The land was just beautiful! The farms looked so clean and pretty. It made me want to get out and milk a cow. Apparently these are really old bridges. Made in the late 1800's. Very fun going through it! Yes this is an Amish man plowing his Field with a team of 6 horses!!! This was a Mennonite graveyard behind their church. It was very old and historic...I couldn't think of a better word.

Of course we had to take a picture of a horse and buggy sign...they have them in Geneva too, but it seemed a lot cooler here.

Right after we took the picture of the sign, we then came upon one of them...and yes we did pass him.

Then we made it to Intercourse! Intercourse is a little town that has a lot of cute shops. So we got a couple of souvenirs and what not.

Interesting Park...Morning of day 2

Green field Corporate Center...is the name of a pretty big park that was by the first Marriott we were at. I thought the art work was very interesting...

Swimming! End of day 1

We plan on going swimming a lot this summer...so we wanted to make sure Emma was okay with pools. So being at the Marriott for two nights we went swimming!

Vacation!! Day 1

So we are on vacation!!! We decided to take a little road trip to Pennsylvania, to see some sights. Here are a couple of things we did yesterday.

This is in Harmony PA. It is the area were the priesthood was restored.

For all you Office fans...We went through Scranton, this is the best picture I could take of a sign. Beautiful scenery. While driving this truck cut us off. We thought it was funny since he had "THINK SAFETY" on the back...

The landscape was incredible.

We then went through Hershey, everything is closed for the season but it was still pretty cool to see.

The light post were kisses! How sweet is that! Pun intended.

We stopped at this park in Hershey so we could feed Emma and so she could get out and move around.

Of course I had more fun then her.

Emma at Niagara Falls

We took Emma to Niagara Falls today. It was her first time out of the USA! That to me is crazy! My first time out of the States was just Last year. Anyway, we went to Niagara Falls and Emma had a blast!

It was a beautiful day. If you ever happen to go to the falls make sure you have a jacket...it gets pretty misty. Talking about mist, Emma loved it. At first I was trying to shield her from it, until I herd her squealing with laughter. For those who haven't been to Niagara...the mist is crazy! It feels like your pretty much in a cold shower.

Of course we had to have Emma in her sunglasses, she wouldn't want it any other way. I've never seen so many people point and stare...and not at the falls but at Emma. We kept on hearing thing like "Look at the baby with the glasses." "Ohhhh...look honey." Their were a lot more but you get the idea. So Emma ended up being our little spectacle to look at. Her loud bursts of laughter and growls didn't help either.

For those who don't know, Emma has Eczema. That is why in most of the pictures we take of her, her face is red. We think she's cute anyway. But boy does it make me feel like a neglectful mother.

Mist...need I say more.

After Niagara we hit up Hard Rock Cafe. I have never been there to eat so I had no idea that they had music playing all the time really loud. I didn't think Emma would be able to handle it for long. But low and behold she loved it! She even fell asleep!!!

On the way back, I thought I would document how happy and funny Emma gets when we put her sunglasses on.
